Scaled Perception:

--How an environment changes based on proximity and time.

-The space is about the individual.

-Meant to be somewhat intimidating, to express the tension between communism and democracy felt throughout the world.

-Occupying the third space.

-The landscape is healing the wounds between these two pieces of a country.

-Push to the West.

-Timeline and reverb - how pushes you through the site.

-A memorial at a monumental scale. Left to the user to decide if it is a memorial or a monument.

here is the final product on our end, this has been a great teamwork experience. Each of us contributed great amounts to the whole. We are all very pleased with the results.

Another atmospheric piece that gives a sense of the experience inside the site. Posted by Hello

just wanted to share some of Marian's work from last night. We were unsure how the work would come together after we all split up to start production, but we all were on the page and everything came together perfectly. This image gives a sense of the atmosphere created by the design at night.  Posted by Hello

updated picture of the presentation board....thoughts/comments? Posted by Hello

sample of the "style" for a few of the perspectives that I was thinking about using. just trying something new. Posted by Hello

an interesting abstraction of on of the images...it appears to be like a winter scene showing a forest of trees Posted by Hello

beginning to layout the board and seeing how this idea of scaled perception can be shown through our drawings and final presentation Posted by Hello

+ saturday conversation 1 +

possible structure for how each of these tendrils is built: concrete base footing with a small finger upon which each of theser steel tendrils sits Posted by Hello

how some of these tendrils will allow plant growth to creep up out of the ground and onto these structures Posted by Hello

beginning to really understand scale of site and spacing of these tendrils. horizontal lines represent the years of the cold war from 1945-1989. 1945 at the bottom of the page going up to 1989 at the top where the ocean is. each line is about 3 meters apart. in the vertical direction, it starts at 3 meter spacing and goes to 1 meter at the middle and then back to 3 meters again at the far right. we still need to superimpose upon this grid this idea of how the ground pushes in. and creates the valley. Posted by Hello

model 3 - yellow clay piece represents scale of a person approximately Posted by Hello

showing how by pushing the ground down like this creates a natural tendency for the tendrils/sticks to angle and bend over Posted by Hello

sketches showing how the ground begins to dip and create a wound for which these tendrils cross over and "heal" Posted by Hello

just trying to see how these other events resonate Posted by Hello

close up view of the site depitcitng this idea of timeline markers in the ground/floor. if they are metal and the site is gravel, then the marker opens up to become a place to be. the density of the tendrils/sticks flows in the other direction and shows the flexible border being pushed from east to west. Posted by Hello

how does this idea of major events resonating along the timeline begin to work? Posted by Hello
